Picture Frame Pillowcase

Picture Frame Pillowcase

Finally, I finished K’s Valentine present! Once I actually started working on this project, it did not take me long. This was just one of those things I didn’t have a pattern for and was trying to use the fabric I had, so I analyzed A LOT before beginning. I’m pretty pleased with the final picture frame pillowcase I created, and I hope that when K wakes up from her nap she will like it!

Swatch Size 8 by 8The black and white print of K and our dog came from Spoonflower. I was lucky and found a deal back in the early fall for a free fabric swatch/sample of your own design, but you can order fabric swatches for $5 any day. So, I converted the photo to b/w, cropped, and resized it to fit the dimensions of a swatch (8x8inches).

After I washed it, I had to square up the fabric and I ended up with a 7×7 square. I purchased a 16×16 pillow form at JoAnns at 50% off, so it cost about $6. All the fabric was leftover from K’s bedding and nursery decor that my grandmother made for me while I was on bedrest.

It is a pillowcase/sham, so if I need to I can remove the pillow form and wash whichever parts need washing! I hope this inspires you to create something special with your own photos.

*Disclaimer – I have not tried either of these methods because I have a laser printer.
