Dancin’ Chick Applique

Dancin Chick AppliqueThis little chick started out simple, but I knew I wanted add a few extras to make her special for my little K. The first picture just has the little chick ironed on.

Then I stitched around with a zigzag and straight stitch to secure all the parts. Next, I added a simple, little bow.Simple BowSince my little one is in love with tutus now, I decided her Dancin’ Chick needed one too! I cut a 1.5 inch wide strips of tulle, folded it in half lengthwise, ruffled it, and then attached it.Tutu Added to ChickFull Length View of Dancin' Chick TopFor using what I had on hand as far as fabric, ribbon, thread, and tulle, I’m happy with my results. I spent around $3 for the shirt on sale at Children’s Place.

If I was to do it again, I would change a few things:

  • Solid Color Shirt
  • Matching Tulle & Ribbon
  • Different fabric for the legs & bill

I did decide to add one more tiny feature…Eye Lashes!

Hi, Shyanne. This chick is super cute. The tutu and eyelashes are my favorite part. 🙂 🙂 I featured it on my blog today! Come check it out and grab a button if you like. 🙂 http://missloviecreations.blogspot.com/2012/04/my-favorite-things-thursday-on.html

  4. This is seriously SO cute!! The extra details (like the eyelashes and tutu) really take this shirt up a notch. I don’t have a daughter, and I can’t sew to save my life, but I had to stop by. LOVE it! 🙂
